2018 Annual Meeting - A Message from the Superintendent

Post date: Mar 7, 2018 6:01:14 PM

Please accept this communication as an update regarding plans for the 2018 MVSD Annual Meeting. New England is preparing for another March nor'easter and in the Concord area, we are hearing the potential for 8-14 inches of snow. According to the National Weather Service, local forecasters, and the NH Department of Safety (HSEM), The Concord area will not see much accumulation prior to 4pm on Wednesday (less than an inch). However, exercising caution, we have cancelled all afternoon activities for MVSD schools on Wednesday and there will not be any late bus service. The accumulation is expected to begin piling up later in the evening and into the early morning hours on Thursday. At this point, we are going to wait and see to determine the status for MVSD schools on Thursday. We hope the timing will allow for a delayed opening at worse. We will broadcast the message regarding the status of schools on Thursday as we do for other weather-related issues.

Regardless of the weather and potential delay/closing of schools, polls for the MVSD School Board elections WILL BE OPEN from 11am to 7pm on Thursday 3.8.18 (at MVHS). The District has been advised by legal counsel (who collaborated with the Secretary of State's office the the Attorney General's office), that we cannot postpone the polling hours. As such, our intent is to also hold the MVSD Annual Meeting on Thursday at 7pm (at MVHS). We are hopeful that although the early hours of polling may pose some travel difficulties, the timing of the storm and associated cleanup will allow ample opportunity for safe travel to the polling location. Additionally, the timing of the storm seems to indicate that holding the Annual Meeting as planned at 7pm on Thursday evening is appropriate and that roads will be cleared in plenty of time.

Thank you for your support, understanding, and collaboration.
